Construction Permit Applications and Fee Schedule
Building and Structural Permits
1. Permit fees for New Construction- Primary structure or additions to the primary structure (garages, porches, sheds, car ports, etc.)
a. Class 2/Residential- $0.10 per square foot, $100.00 minimum
b. Class 1/Commercial- $0.10 per square foot, $150.00 minimum
2. Remodel (Include interior and exterior alterations, windows, siding, exterior trim, etc.)
Not to be used if a footing or foundation is involved.
a. Class 2/Residential- $0.10 per square foot, $65.00 minimum
b. Class 1/Commercial- $0.10 per square foot, $120.00 minimum
3. Roofing (New or Replacement)
a. Class 2/Residential- $60.00
b. Class 1/Commercial- $8.00 per $1,0000 of total job cost, $100.00 minimum
4. Windows, Siding, Gutters, and Trim
a. Windows
i. Class 2/Residential- $10.00 per window, $65.00 minimum
b. Siding
i. Class 2/Residential- $10.00 per square of siding, $65.00 minimum
c. Gutters or Trim
i. Class 2/Residential- $65.00
5. Demolition
a. House or Residential Garage- $50.00
b. Commercial, Industrial, Multi-Family, or Other Structures
- Ground area up to 2,000 square feet- $70.50
- Ground area up to 4,000 square feet- $135.00
- Ground area up to 10,000 square feet- $200.00
- Ground area up to 20,000 square feet- $285.00
- Ground area over 20,000 square feet- $560.00
- (+ 50% ground area fee each additional story: comm'l, industrial, multi-story apt)
- Smokestacks, Above Ground Storage Tanks, Overhead Hoppers, or Similar $160.00
6. Relocation of Structure
a. Permit required, contact Clerk/Treasurer’s Office, fee based on cost required resources.
7. Signs (includes all signs- ground, roof, and/or wall)
a. Signs under 200 square feet- $25.00
b. Signs exceeding 200 square feet- $25.00 plus $4.00 per each additional 100 square feet
- If sign is illuminated add $30.00 to permit feet
- If is two-sided multiply permit fee by two
8. Grandstands and Suites
a. Grandstands- $0.03 per square foot, $100 minimum
b. Suites (if part of new grandstand)- $0.03 per square foot
9. Miscellaneous

Electrical Permits
1. Class 2/Residential
a. Service Upgrade, Relocation, or Change Out- $60.00
b. Remodel or Addition- $60.00
c. Remodel or Addition with Service Relocation- $100.00
d. New House- $10.00 per every $1,000.00 of Job Cost, $100.00 minimum
e. Electric Space Heating- $35.00 per Unit
f. Electric Cooling- $35.00 per Unit
g. Combined Electric Space Heating and Cooling- $65.00 per Unit
h. Temporary Service- $60.00
i. Misc- For activities not covered above please contact the Speedway Electrical Inspector
2. Class 1/Commercial
a. Temporary Service- $60.00
b. New Service Panel or Upgrade- $100.00
c. New Branch Circuits (with or without service upgrade)- $100.00
d. Electric Space Heating- $50.00
e. Electric Cooling- $50.00
f. Combined Electric Space Heating and Cooling- $100.00
g. New Building or New Electrical Work- $0.10 per Square Foot $100.00 Minimum
h. Misc- For activities not covered above please contact the Speedway Electrical Inspector
HVAC and Refrigeration Permits
1. Class 2/Residential
a. Heating System Installation or Replacement- $50.00 per Unit
b. Cooling System Installation or Replacement- $50.00 per Unit
c. Combined Heating and Cooling System Installation or Replacement- $100.00
d. Installation or Replacement of Ductwork- $35.00 additional to a heating or cooling permit
e. Installation of a Miscellaneous Item such as a Coil, Condenser, Heat Pump, or Solar Panel- $65.00 per Unit
f. Misc- For activities not covered above please contact the Speedway HVAC Inspector
2. Class 1/Commercial
a. Heating Systems- $10.00 per 1,000.00 of Job Cost per Unit, $50.00 minimum
b. Cooling Systems- $10.00 per 1,000.00 of Job Cost per Unit, $50.00 minimum
c. Combined Heating and Cooling Systems- $10.00 per 1,000.00 of Job Cost, $100.00 minimum
d. Rework Existing Ductwork- $50.00 additional to a heating or cooling permit
e. Installation of a Misc Item such as a Coil, Condenser, Heat Pump, or Solar Panel- $100.00
f. Misc- For activities not covered above please contact the Speedway HVAC Inspector
Plumbing Permits
1. Class 2/Residential
a. New Structure- $55.00
b. Repair/Alteration- $45.00
c. Hook Up/Reconnect- $35.00
d. Water Heater- $25.00 per Unit
e. Misc- For activities not covered above, contact Plumbing Inspector
2. Class 1/Commercial
a. New Structure- $0.10 per Square Foot, $55.00 Minimum
b. Repair/Alteration- $55.00
c. Hook Up/Reconnect- $35.00

e. Misc- For activities not covered above,contact Plumbing Inspector
Re-Inspections/Additional Inspections- $50.00 per Occurrence
Renewals- All permits issued by the Town of Speedway are valid for one (1) year after issuance. The fee for a one (1) year renewal of an existing permit approved by the appropriate commissioner or inspector- $50.00 per permit.
