SPEEDWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARMED DRUG DEALER BEING SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

A traffic stop by the Speedway PD escalated into a foot pursuit when Troy Fulmer, 32, of Indianapolis fled the traffic stop and crashed his motorcycle. Speedway Police Department officers took Fulmer into custody and recovered two handguns and approximately 110 grams of methamphetamine.

On June 7, 2022, the United States Attorney’s Office published the below press release naming the Speedway Police Department as an integral part of this conviction. Fulmer was sentenced to 144 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and carrying a firearm during and in relation to drug trafficking of methamphetamine.

“All across our country, police officers put on their badge every morning not knowing what challenges they may encounter, yet they continue to risk their lives every day to protect their community,” said SPD Chief Charles Upchurch. “The men and women who serve in the Speedway Police Department are among the best in this profession, and I am humbled and proud to work with them every day.”
