JOB TITLE
Deputy Clerk-Treasurer

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This position reports directly to the elected Clerk-Treasurer for the Town of Speedway. The Deputy Clerk-Treasurer serves as assistant to the Clerk-Treasurer and does related work as required. This role works directly with town residents and other town officials and requires strong communication and customer service skills. Considerable responsible experience in clerical and accounts receivable/payable duties, some of which shall involve the performance of bookkeeping tasks will be required.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

  • Maintain Accounts Receivable Books
  • Create Bank Deposits
  • Assist Customers with Utility Accounts
  • Answer Phones & Respond to Voicemails
  • Assist Permit Clerk with Issuing Permits
  • Assist Customers with Park Shelter Reservations
  • Create Reports from Payroll System
  • Other Duties as Assigned

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Computer with word processing, spreadsheet, payroll/budget programs, telephone, calculator, copy machine, etc.

Employee frequently sits, stands, grasps, walks, uses a keyboard, uses hand-eye coordination, hears, talks, uses the telephone, and has contact with the public/customers.

Employee must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The following elements serve to identify the required acceptable experience and qualifications:

  • General knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices.
  • Good communication skills and knowledge of office practices.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate a wide range of office equipment and software applications.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written directions making decisions in accordance with laws and regulations and established procedures.
  • Must exercise good judgment, tact, and courtesy in all dealings with employees, supervisors and members of the public.
  • Experience with payroll software a plus.

The Town of Speedway offers a competitive wage and benefit package. This is a salaried position, pay will be based on experience. Successful applicants will have submitted a cover letter and resume.

Salary: $35,000 - $40,000
Availability: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday
