Congrats Sparkplugs

Last Friday the Speedway Sparkplugs took on the Washington Continentals for homecoming on September 27, 2019. Way to go SPARKPLUGS! Also, congratulations to Homecoming King Morgan Grimes and Queen Cassie Arnell.
See them take on Cascade tonight at Speedway High School.

Town News

  1. Shred-It is TOMORROW! Don’t forget that Speedway Shred-It Day (Fall 2019) by Speedway PD will take place at Speedway Police Department tomorrow (10/5/2019).
  2. Watch the Speedway Candidate Forum Live on October 7th! Speedway Community Television would like to remind you that they’ll be live-streaming this year’s Old Speedway City Neighborhood Association event for electoral candidates! You can view the event details on their Facebook page (Speedway Candidate Forum). Also, follow SCTV - Speedway Community Television on Facebook and subscribe on YouTube so you don’t miss out on this and other important video updates at:
  3. A magical production coming to Speedway HS: Speedway High School has announced their upcoming production: Speedway Theater Department presents Peter and the Starcatcher.   4. Thank you Speedway Home Helpers! Thank you to everyone who came out to help with the Fall 2019: Speedway Home Helpers. We had a great turnout with 38 volunteers helping 14 homes. We hope to continue this program in the Spring! Follow Speedway Home Helpers to stay up-to-date and see pictures from this year’s events.
  5. Speedway Water Works is Hiring! Speedway Water Works is currently looking for a Water Operator to perform a variety of skilled, technical, and maintenance work as part of the team at the Town Water Plants. Click here for more information:
  6. The Town of Speedway to Host a Public Forum on October 24th. The Town of Speedway has received preliminary approval from FEMA to revise its Flood Insurance Map so that residents in the area of the Dry Run Diversion are no longer in a flood zone. It is anticipated that the maps will be officially approved on January 24th, 2020. The town will hold a public forum on October 24th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at the Speedway Town Hall to provide the opportunity for residents to see the revised maps, speak with the project engineers, and have their questions answered. Speedway Redevelopment Commission Updates

Speedway Redevelopment Commission meeting videos can be found on SCTV - Speedway Community Television’s YouTube Channel. Meeting minutes and agendas are posted on their website at: Here are a few recent updates:
  1. The Speedway Redevelopment Commission will meet in a Special Session on Monday, October 7th at 5:00PM at Speedway Town Hall. This meeting is open to the public and will air on SCTV. The meeting agenda can be found here.
  2. Public Forum: High School Road Improvements: Economic Development Director, Tim Gropp presented plans for the improvements along High School Road at a public forum on October 3rd including changes to Crawfordsville Rd and High School Road, 25th and High School Road, and Schoolwood Drive and High School Road.   3. Repaving 1300 Block on Main Street is Complete: As part of the environmental cleanup, the crew has repaved the lot to increase parking surface area on Main Street while the SRC works to complete the development agreements.
  4. Environmental Cleanup has started at 10th and Polco St. As discussed at previous Board of Zoning Appeals meetings, the land has been deemed unusable for development purposes, therefore will be cleaned and fenced. No contaminated soil will be removed from the property. Construction on this property will be continuing throughout the next couple months.
  5. Abel Construction has walls! If you’ve driven down Gilman Street recently you’ll have noticed that the new Abel Construction building, future home to Abel Motorsports, has been putting up their exterior walls.
