In case you missed it...

  • Each quarter the faculty of Speedway High School takes time to recognize students for their achievements academically, athletically, or simply for making Speedway Schools better. This is the ceremony for the second quarter of this school year.

Town News

  • Town offices will be closed on December 24th and December 25th.

  • No trash will be picked up on Christmas Day.

  • The Speedway Town Council meeting on Monday, December 23rd has been cancelled. The next scheduled meeting is January 13th, 2020.

  • Christmas tree pickup will take place the first full week of January on the 7th-9th. Please remove lights and ornaments and place tree on the curb during those days and the Street Department will pick up your tree.

  • The 2020 Solid Waste Calendar has been published and can be found on the Town of Speedway website here.

  • Speedy the Elf has been busy this week visiting our town. He even stopped by IMS to kiss the yard of bricks today! He’ll be leaving on December 24th to report back to Santa’s Workshop. You can follow him in his adventures at www.facebook.com/speedy.elf

Speedway Redevelopment Commission Updates

Speedway Redevelopment Commission meeting videos can be found on SCTV - Speedway Community Television’s YouTube Channel. Meeting minutes and agendas are posted on their website at: www.speedwayindiana.com.

  • SRC Meeting Monday: The SRC held an executive session followed by their regular session meeting on Monday, December 16th at 6:00pm at Speedway Town Hall. Agenda items included updates on the Wilshaw Project, Founders Square, and setting 2020 meeting dates. See agenda here: bit.ly/SRCAgenda121619


Speedway Police Department - NOW HIRING

The Speedway PD is currently accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Telecommunicator. The position of telecommunicator will be offered to the best candidate(s) who are successful in the following areas: a background investigation, prior work history and oral interview.

Eligible applicants will be over the age of 18 at the time of appointment, with a minimum high school diploma. Speedway Police Department offers competitive wages. Telecommunicators with prior IDACS certification, Telecommunicator 1 training, and EMD training are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be aware this is shift work.

Applications can be obtained by sending an email to sedie@speedwayin.gov. All applications must be completed correctly, and in full, and submitted to Director Sarah Edie, no later than 4pm on Tuesday, December 31st, 2019. Any submissions received after this date will be ineligible to participate. Incomplete or falsified applications will result in the applicant’s elimination from the process.
