JOB TITLE
Deputy Clerk-Treasurer (Permits)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This position reports directly to the elected Clerk-Treasurer for the Town of Speedway. The Deputy Clerk-Treasurer (Permits) serves as assistant to the Clerk-Treasurer and does related work as required. This role works directly with town residents, local businesses and vendors, code enforcement, and other town officials and requires strong communication and customer service skills.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

  • Daily processing of applications for various permits.
  • Assist customers in submitting various permit and license applications.
  • Reviews and verifies documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Handles customer inquiries (in person and over the phone).
  • Creates and maintains accurate and complete records.
  • Coordinates with other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Computer with word processing, spreadsheet, telephone, calculator, copy machine, etc.

Employee must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The following elements serve to identify the required acceptable experience and qualifications:

  • Good communication skills and knowledge of office practices.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate a wide range of office equipment and software applications.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written directions making decisions in accordance with laws and regulations and established procedures.
  • Must exercise good judgment, tact, and courtesy in all dealings with employees, supervisors and members of the public.
  • Experience with permit procedures a plus.

Salary: $35,000 - $40,000
Availability: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday
