Town News

  • Town Offices Closed Monday: The Town of Speedway offices will be closed on Monday, January 17th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day.

  • Town Council Meeting: The Speedway Town Council met on Monday, January 13th at 7:00pm in a public session at Town Hall. The agenda can be found online at bit.ly/SpeedwayCouncilAgendas. The next meeting will take place on January 27th, 2020. Video from the meeting can be viewed on the SCTV YouTube page.

  • State of the Town address: Planning is being finalized for the Speedway State of the Town 2020. Melissa Sauer has confirmed she will attend the State of the Town address on February 4th to discuss progress made in 2019 and future changes coming to Allison Transmission! We also anticipate a big announcement about Founders Square from the Speedway Town Council. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for 7:00pm on February 4th at Speedway United Methodist Church.

  • Town Press - West Side Messenger to Cease Publication: The The Speedway Town Press - West Side Messenger has announced that after more than 100 years of service to the West Side and Speedway, The Press will cease publishing with its most current issue. We at the Town of Speedway would like to thank the Nelson family and those who have come before them for your service and commitment to our community. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

  • Shred-It Days will Return to Speedway! The Speedway PD announced April 25th and October 10th as the 2020 Shred-It Days. Save the date with their facebook page.


    Speedway Redevelopment Commission Updates

    Speedway Redevelopment Commission meeting videos can be found on SCTV - Speedway Community Television’s YouTube Channel. Meeting minutes and agendas are posted on their website at: www.speedwayindiana.com.

    • Next Meeting: The SRC will hold an executive session followed by their regular session meeting on Tuesday, January 21st at 6:00pm in Speedway Town Hall.

    • Founders Square: The development of 2500 block of High School Road continues to make progress. This week, SRC closed on the property at 2500 block, paving the way for the next big step. Updates are expected at the next SRC meeting with major announcements on the project being made at the State of the Town on February 4th!

    • AutoTech Building Demo: The AutoTech building on Main Street in the 1300 block has been scheduled for demolition. Depending on weather, demolition preparation should begin Monday, January 20th.

      The Speedway High School Girls basketball team beat the Lady Athenians from Crawfordsville at the Morris Pollard Gymnasium during their Saturday matchup.

      Tammy Smith, Speedway Parks and Recreation Director, took a moment to speak about the upcoming Winter Wonderland Prince and Princess Ball on February 1st. Tickets are still available for the 2020 Winter Wonderland | Prince and Princess Ball to be hosted on February 1st at the Speedway Legacy Inn! This all ages event is a great time to escape the mundane happenings of normal life and be treated as royalty for the afternoon. Families are encouraged to dress in their fanciest attire to dance (and snack) the afternoon away. (Event Page)
