When can I set off fireworks?

Marion County | Code of Ordinance: It shall be unlawful for any person to use, ignite, or discharge any consumer fireworks, as defined in IC22-11-14, at any place in the consolidated city, except during the following times:

  • June 28 - July 4 | Between 5:00pm and 2 hours after sunset
  • July 4 | Between 10:00am and 12:00am (midnight)
  • July 5-9 | Between 5:00pm and 2 hours after sunset

Who can buy and use fireworks?

  • Under Indiana law, you must be at least 18-years-old to buy fireworks and someone who is 18 or older must be present when fireworks are being set off.
  • Please use responsibly and never let children handle, play with, or light fireworks.

Can I set fireworks off in the park?

  • Town of Speedway | Code of ordinance: Projectiles, rockets, and air or ground contraptions, whether motorized or nonmotorized, that have the apparent capability of endangering the safety of the user or others, shall not be permitted in any playground or recreation area unless authorized by the board of recreation of the town.
  • Furthermore, it is a violation of Speedway town ordinance to be in either of the town's public parks after dusk.
