If you follow local Speedway Facebook groups, you may have recently seen some spectacular images capturing unique visuals of the Town of Speedway. You were probably looking at photos taken by local artist, Nick Harvey.

Nick Harvey - or Nicholas Andrew, as he's known on social media - is an Indianapolis native. Nick, 32, attended Speedway High School. Nick not only graduated from the Art Institute of Indianapolis, but was presented with numerous awards while attending. His artwork has been featured by several news agencies and shared by both celebrity and locally prominent figures, such as Melissa Joan Hart, Angela Ganote, and Cyndi Carrasco.

Nicholas is a multi-medium artist, showcasing significant talent in photography and artwork- with his devotion to Speedway a common focal point for both lens and pen. Having ample hometown pride, he gladly redesigned the S.W.A.T. team patch for the Speedway Police Department, and has has graciously given his permission for the Town of Speedway to showcase his photos within the town website.

Nicholas was also chosen by a panel to participate in a local fundraising event for the Indianapolis Zoo, the Naturally Inspired Paint Out, where he arrived- canvas and supplies in hand- to create a piece for auction in real time surrounded by an audience of zoo attendees. Beyond city-wide recognition, Nicholas became internationally established when he spearheaded the conception of a Ukrainian war hero only known by word of mouth and never seen. This figure was celebrated as THE GHOST OF KYIV, and Nicholas’ imagery was used by PrivatBank (UKR) as skins for their debit cards to raise funds, and featured in the Ukrainian equivalent of Newsweek.

Nick's photography methods include but are not limited to: crouching on sidewalks, gazing into reflective puddles, manipulating commonplace locations or objects to highlight their abstract side and his artistic vision, as well as utilizing crystal orbs and different lenses to capture city and landscapes in more of a metaphysical fashion. Nicholas’ equipment set-up ranges from a camera phone to a Canon DSLR camera, depending on the objective of the shot.
