About Grant Kleinhenz, Town Manager

Grant Kleinhenz was appointed as the Town Manager, effective July 12, 2021. He provides management and oversight of the day-to-day operations. 

Kleinhenz brings a notable amount of government experience to his role, having served nearly eight years as Town Manager for The Town of Brownsburg, Indiana including stints in Centralia, Illinois, Humbolt, Iowa and Fishers, Indiana. “The continued progress and quality of life improvements made positions the Town of Speedway in an excellent situation for the future. The commitment to both traditional values and growth are incorporated in our Main Street developments,” stated Kleinhenz. “The connections and relationships I’ve developed throughout Indianapolis will assist in the continued progress that is taking place in the Town of Speedway.”

When asked what drove him to apply for the town manager position, Kleinhenz shared that he wanted to return to public service. “Speedway is a community that has benefitted from strong leadership, engaged residents, an active business community, and a longtime partnership with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I’m looking forward to continuing to build on the tradition of progress and am excited about the many opportunities ahead,” he added.   

Most recently, Kleinhenz worked in the private sector for a transportation engineering firm where he was responsible for comprehensive planning, economic development planning, subarea plans, and municipal policy issues. Kleinhenz holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs Management from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs and a Master of Business Administration through Indiana Wesleyan. He is also a Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).

Kleinhenz and his wife, Paisley, have five children.
