AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 2.12 OF THE SPEEDWAY MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING HOLIDAY PAY FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Speedway, Indiana has determined the need to clarify the holiday pay provisions for police department employees scheduled or called to work an actual holiday;


NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Speedway, Indiana that Section 2.12.080 of Chapter 2.12 of the Speedway Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:


2.12.080 Holiday Pay for Police Department Employees Scheduled or Called Out to Work on Actual Holidays. Holiday observance shall not apply to members of the Town of Speedway's police department, who by reason of their essential duties must be scheduled to work on actual holidays. Civilian employees of the police department scheduled to work or called out to work four (4) or more hours on an actual holiday shall be paid a bonus of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). All other police department employees scheduled to work or called out to work four (4) or more hours on an actual holiday shall be paid a bonus of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). For unscheduled call-outs of less than four (4) hours on an actual holiday, police department employees shall receive their regular rate of pay for hours worked unless otherwise entitled to overtime pay, or may receive compensatory time off. For purposes of this section, the term "actual holiday" shall mean the calendar day on which the holiday falls and not the day on which the holiday may be observed.
