COMMUNITY: Town of Speedway Fire Hydrant Vandalism

If you see something, say something. This applies to suspicious activity regarding fire hydrants, too.

The Town of Speedway has discovered that various fire hydrants throughout the town have recently been vandalized. “When fire hydrants are tampered with or damaged, these acts of vandalism cost taxpayers money in resource dollars and hydrant repairs,” stated Speedway Waterworks Distribution Foreman Zachary Dewbrew. “This is a serious problem that could potentially put at risk Speedway Fire Department's firefighting capabilities of effectively fighting a fire.”

The Speedway Fire Department 2022 and Speedway Public Works personnel have a special tool required to remove the hydrant cap. Any other unauthorized removal or tampering with a fire hydrant is a criminal activity.
