July 2026: Happy Anniversary to Speedway and America!

SPEEDWAY, Ind. – June 19, 2026 - Earlier this year, the Speedway Town Council proclaimed July 2026 as "Anniversary Month: Speedway, Indiana 100 Years and America 250 Years," recognizing the alignment of these two significant anniversaries. The proclamation noted that America's founding on July 4, 1776, and Speedway's incorporation on July 14, 1926, are both being celebrated during the same month.

July 2026 provides a unique opportunity to celebrate two remarkable milestones at the same time. As Speedway recognizes America's 250th anniversary and the Town's 100th anniversary, residents are encouraged to join together in honoring the history, values, and people that have shaped both the nation and the community.

To honor these anniversaries, residents are encouraged to proudly display American flags and/or Town of Speedway flags throughout the month of July as a visible tribute to both the nation and the community.

The proclamation recognizes the shared spirit of perseverance, hard work, ingenuity, and freedom that has contributed to the success of both America and Speedway over the past centuries. It also highlights Speedway's origins and the generations of residents who have helped build a strong and vibrant community.

"This anniversary month reminds us that Speedway's story is deeply connected to the American story," said Ann Hammer, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) member. "We hope residents will take this opportunity to celebrate our nation's founding, reflect on Speedway's first 100 years, and proudly display their American and Speedway flags throughout July."

Additional Centennial events and activities are planned. Residents are encouraged to visit the Town of Speedway's Centennial webpage and follow the Town's social media channels for updates and celebration information.
