TRAVEL NOTICE FROM SPEEDWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT

500 Festival Mini-Marathon

We're excited to welcome everyone back for the 500 Festival Mini Marathon 2 weeks from today.

The 500 Festival Mini-Marathon will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022. The event will start in downtown Indianapolis and proceed to Michigan Street, west on Michigan Street to Holt Road, north on Holt Road to 10th Street, west on 10th Street to Ford Street, west on Ford Street to Main Street, north on Main Street to 16th Street and east on 16th Street.

Runners will enter the track at Gate #2, complete a lap and exit onto 16th Street from Gate #4. Runners will then proceed east on 16th Street, south on Olin Avenue, east on 10th Street, south on White River Parkway and east on New York Street to the Finish Line at Military Park.

It will become necessary to block the following streets in Speedway from approximately 7:30 AM until 12:00 PM or until the race is clear of Town.

Street Closing/Restrictions in the Speedway area:

Crawfordsville Road from Lynhurst Drive to the 16th Street Roundabout: (Will be restricted to local traffic only) Absolutely no traffic will be allowed on the 16th Street Roundabout.

Main Street from 16th to 10th Street: Will be closed for all but emergency traffic. NO ON-STREET PARKING! Off-street parking available on adjacent lots & streets.

16th Street from Lynhurst Dr. to Main Street: (Will be restricted to local traffic only). Absolutely no traffic will be allowed eastbound on 16th Street from Main Street.

10th Street from Lynhurst Dr. to Main Street: (Will be restricted to local traffic only). Absolutely no traffic will be allowed eastbound on 10th Street from Main St.

10th Street from Olin to Main Street: Closed.

16th Street from Livingston to Main: Closed.

Olin from 10th Street to 16th Street: Closed.

Polco from 10th Street to 16th Street: Closed.

Cossell Road from 10th Street to Grande Avenue: Local traffic only.

All streets intersecting Main Street between 16th Street and 10th Street (15th, 14th, 13th, 12th, 11th and Ford Streets) will be manned by personnel at Main Street.

Gilman Street, Allison Way and Ford Street from 10th Street to Main Street: Closed.

Parking Restrictions:

Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted on Main Street for both the east and west sides of the street on Friday May 6, 2022, at 4:00 PM.
Although the signs will be posted by 4:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022, parking enforcement will not begin until 3:00 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

After 3:00 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022, any vehicle parked on Main Street between 16th and 10th Streets will be towed at the owner’s expense by the Speedway Police Department.

Parking restrictions will be lifted at the conclusion of the race.
