SPD PRESS RELEASE: CLOSURES AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS FOR INDY 8 HOUR GT PARADE & WELCOME PARTY AND INDIANAPOLIS 8 HOUR STREET

GT Parade Event Details

USAC Racing will be hosting their Indy 8 Hour GT Parade and Welcome Party event on certain portions of Main Street this Wednesday, October 4, 2023. The event will create a need for street closures and parking restrictions.

Main Street from 14th Street to 16th Street will be closed to all but emergency traffic and event participants beginning at 4 P.M. on Wednesday, October 4. Main Street will reopen at approximately 8:30 P.M. that evening.

At approximately 4 P.M. on October 3, temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted on Main Street for both the east and west sides of the street between 14th Street and 16th Street – to take effect October 4 at 4 P.M.

Again, although this area will be posted as “No Parking,” enforcement will not begin until 4 P.M. on October 4. After 4 P.M., any vehicle parked on Main Street between 14th Street and 16th Street will be towed at the owner’s expense by the Speedway Police Department.

Parking restrictions will be lifted at the conclusion of the event.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS OCTOBER 6-8:

In addition, 3-hour parking on Main Street between 10th Street and 16th Street will be monitored and enforced during the Indianapolis 8-hour event weekend being held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, October 6 through October 8. No other race-related parking restrictions will be enforced in the Town of Speedway.
