There’s no better way to celebrate the holiday than by giving back. And giving is exactly what this community embraced during the third annual Town of Speedway Holiday Food Drive.

A total of 1,817 pieces of non-perishable food and personal items were collected and distributed back into the community through the St. Christopher Parish Food Pantry and The Storehouse Food Pantry-operated and supported by Speedway Christian Church.

Area food pantries serve hundreds of Speedway residents during the holidays, helping to ensure no one goes hungry. “Hosting the Holiday Food Drive is just a small way for us to give back to the community while helping those who may be experiencing hard times,” said Speedway Town Manager Grant Kleinhenz. “Giving should be celebrated and we are grateful to provide this holiday celebration to the community each year."

In the weeks leading up to the food drive, the community was encouraged to donate items at the Speedway Municipal Center. Town employees also contributed, triggering a friendly donation challenge between the Speedway Fire Department and the Speedway Police Department. Executing a Town food drive is a collaborative effort by multiple Town departments. "I am thankful to all the residents and businesses who donated and for the Town employees who made this a successful event," said Kleinhenz.

The annual Town of Speedway Holiday Food Drive is a meaningful way to make a difference. A sincere thank you to such a caring community for the generous donations.
