Town of Speedway residents will see local road and sidewalk improvements in 2024 thanks in part to a grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Community Crossings Matching Grant Fund Program.

The Town of Speedway is to be awarded $1 million in matching grant funding. Speedway is one of 13 communities in the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization (IMPO) region to be awarded the INDOT Community Crossings grant.

The 2024 Road & Sidewalk Projects will provide resurfacing enhancements and sidewalk improvements such as new sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, and driveway approaches. Areas identified as part of this project include:

  • Beauport Road (from Moller Road to School Drive)
  • Hollister Drive (from Patton Drive to Moller Road)
  • Maplewood Drive East (from Meadowood Drive to Moller Road)
  • Maplewood Drive West (from Meadowood Drive to Moller Road)
  • Hickorywood Drive (from High School Road to Parkwood Drive)

The planned work is subject to change as final bid pricing and available funds, as well as seasonal weather conditions, will dictate the completion of projects during the 2024 construction season.

The Town of Speedway will match the remaining 50% of this project with available Motor Vehicle Highway/Local Roads and Streets funding sources that are intended for such purposes.
