The Town of Speedway is working to enhance both motorist and pedestrian travel in the community.

As part of the 2022 Asphalt Project announced last summer, resurfacing enhancements are currently underway on many streets in Speedway including N. Whitcomb Avenue from Beauport Road to Hollister Drive, Patton Drive from W. 29th Place to Beauport Road, Hickorywood Drive from Macarthur Lane to N. Whitcomb Avenue, Macarthur Lane from Beauport Road to Hickorywood Drive, and Hickorywood Court from Hickorywood Drive to the dead end.

The 2022 Asphalt project was funded in part by the $417,000 Community Crossing Matching Grant that was awarded to the Town of Speedway in August 2022. The Town will match the remaining 50% of this project with available Motor Vehicle Highway/Local Roads and Streets funding sources that are intended for such maintenance.

Sidewalk enhancements are also planned. The 2023 Sidewalk Project will provide new sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, and driveway approaches to 10th Street from Speedway Gas Station to Allisons Innovation Center, west side of Moller Road from 29th Place to 26th Street, and Lynhurst on the west side from Crawfordsville Road to 20th Street.

These sidewalk investments are being funded by the Transportation Committee with dollars collected for improving and upkeeping bus stops and access to bus stops. The sidewalk work is to commence after May 2023 and a September 2023 completion date is anticipated, barring no weather delays or supply chain availability issues.
