Peddler Permit Guidelines

  • Peddlers must display their permit at all times, rain or shine.
  • Permits must be visible and may not be concealed beneath clothing.
  • Permits are subject to inspection at any time.
  • Walking peddlers may not have assistants, friends or companions to accompany them and/or hold their wares.
  • Each individual must have a permit.
  • Walking peddlers may not "set-up-shop using their vehicle or any structure(s).
  • Peddlers may not stop or interfere with the flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
  • Peddlers may not operate on private property or Speedway Town property without written permission from the property owner.
  • Peddlers may not operate on property owned by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation.
  • Peddlers may not use or carry shopping carts, display fans, or mobile display apparatus deemed by any fireman or police officer to interfere with the flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic.
  • Peddlers may display signs small enough to be hand held.
  • Permits issued by the City of Indianapolis are not valid in Speedway. A Speedway peddler permit is required.
  • Copies of the ordinance covering peddlers are available at the Speedway Town Hall, 5300 Crawfordsville Road. It is the responsibility of the peddler to read and obey the guidelines set forth under this ordinance.
  • Peddler Permits are $250.00 each. Payment must be in US Dollars. All sales are final "No Refunds" will be given.
  • Individuals in violation of these guidelines may have their wares, tickets, money, and permits confiscated without warning.
