Required Inspections

Permits required by Section 7 hereof shall be issued upon prior payment of a permit fee set by Town Council Resolution to recover the costs of required inspections and any other overhead costs. If additional inspections are required, a re-inspection fee, also as required by Section 7, must be paid in advance of the re-inspection. Each discipline listed below requires a separate permit.

The required inspections shall be as follows:

Structural Inspections

• Footing excavation prior to pouring concrete
• Inspection of under slab floor preparation and insulation prior to pouring of the slab
• Completed foundation prior to framing
• Corner brace nailing pattern prior to tyvak
• Completed framing prior to insulation and dry wall application
• Brick installation during installation at the stage of 4' to 6' in height
• Final inspection

Electrical Inspections

• Under slab in installing
• Rough-in inspection
• Final inspection
• If a slab is to be poured, any electrical under the slab must be inspected before the slab is poured

Plumbing Inspections

• Under slab if installing
• Rough-in inspection
• Final inspection
• If a slab is to be poured, any plumbing under the slab must be inspected before the slab is poured.

Heating & Cooling Inspections

• Under slab if installing
• Rough-in inspection
• Final inspection
• If a slab is to be poured, any heating and cooling under the slab must be inspected before the slab is poured

Let it be known that the Job Site shall be available for 48 hours after an Inspection is called in. Make sure you are ready for an Inspection when you call in. If an Inspection does not pass, a Re-Inspection fee must be paid in full before a Re-Inspection will be made. The appropriate inspector shall be notified by telephone. The inspections shall be completed by the end of the following day.

The Building Commissioner and other inspectors may designate additional stages of construction when a required inspection must be made. Where additional inspections or re-inspections are required, a re-inspection fee for each inspection shall be paid to the Clerk-Treasurer of the Town of Speedway prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy.
