DAR Patriotic House Decorating Contest
Speedway residents - it’s time to show your red, white, and blue spirit!
As part of the Town of Speedway’s Centennial Celebration, the Speedway Centennial Planning Committee and the Eagle Creek Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) are excited to announce a decorating contest for residents who love to show their pride. We invite you to decorate the outside of your home - porches, front yards, windows, and walkways - with your best patriotic flair! Think twinkling lights, bold flags, stars, eagles, bunting, and anything that celebrates 100 years of Speedway pride and 250 years of American spirit.

Event Dates to Remember:
June 1 - June 20
Residents showcase their patriotic spirit by decorating their homes in celebration of Speedway's Centennial and America's 250th anniversary
June 20
Register your home by June 20, 2026 at Patriotic House Decorating Contest Registration
June 21 – June 26
House Judging takes place and conducted by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
July 14
Houses remain decorated - if possible - through July 14
Contest Overview:
This contest is open to Speedway residents who want to showcase their patriotic creativity and be part of a community-wide celebration.
Contest Guidelines:
- Monetary prizes (provided by DAR): 1st Place – $100 | 2nd Place – $75 | 3rd Place – $50
- No entry fee to participate
- Must reside within Town of Speedway boundaries
- Displays must be exterior and visible from the street
- Decorations should be safe, secure, and weather-resistant
- Red, white, and blue themes encouraged (flags, lights, stars, eagles, etc.)
- Displays must be appropriate for public viewing
- Participants must follow all applicable laws and ordinances
- Registered addresses will be included on a public touring map (Note: Resident names will NOT be included on this map)
Judging & Prizes:
- Judged by DAR members
- Criteria: creativity, visual impact, originality, and patriotic spirit
- Judging dates: June 21 – June 26
- Displays should remain through at least July 4 (ideally through July 14 – Speedway’s anniversary)
- Winners agree to display a “winner” yard sign for approximately one week
Community Fun:
Residents will be invited to tour participating homes and enjoy the displays throughout town.

Centennial Street Supper

This once-in-a-century celebration welcomes residents, business leaders and community advocates in marking this historic milestone.
“Speedway’s 100th anniversary is a testament to our local identity, community growth and racing heritage,” says Rhonda Schwartz, president of the Speedway Chamber of Commerce. “We’re excited to honor both the progress and enduring legacy that define this remarkable community.”
With a Roaring ’20s theme, the Centennial Street Supper on 15th promises a vibrant, joyful and memorable evening filled with:
- Live jazz music by Convergence
- Photo booths
- Speakeasy-style mocktail experience
- Kids’ games and activities
- Street performers
- Roaring ‘20s costume contest
“This event is a celebration of everything that makes Speedway special. We wanted to create a space where everyone feels welcome to connect and celebrate 100 incredible years,” says Lori Long, founder of Links Creative Alliance, and part of the planning committee for the Centennial Street Supper on 15th.
Tickets & Parking:
Tickets are priced at $25 per seat or $200 per table of eight. Each ticket includes dinner, with a menu featuring pulled pork with fixings, seasonal sides and bottled water. Guests who live nearby are encouraged to walk, bike or use golf carts. Shuttle service will be available upon request for guests with mobility needs.
