SPEEDWAY, Ind. – June 25, 2026 - The Speedway Town Council has officially proclaimed 2026 as the Town of Speedway’s Centennial Year in recognition of the Town's 100th Anniversary of incorporation.

Founded in 1926, the Town of Speedway has spent the last century building a strong tradition of community, innovation, and pride. As part of the Centennial Celebration, Town Council is encouraging residents, businesses, churches, schools, and community organizations to join in honoring Speedway's rich history and bright future.

To help celebrate this historic milestone, residents are encouraged to display American flags, Town of Speedway flags, Speedway Centennial flags, and patriotic decorations throughout the community as a visible tribute to Speedway's first 100 years.

"Speedway's Centennial is an opportunity to celebrate the people, places, and partnerships that have shaped our community for the past century," said Speedway Town Council President Jason DeLisle. "We invite everyone to take part in this special anniversary by proudly displaying their flags and joining us as we celebrate 100 years of Speedway."

"The Centennial Celebration is about bringing our community together to honor where Speedway has been and celebrate where we are going," said Centennial Planning Lead Christine Meador. "We hope residents, businesses, and community organizations will take part and help make this milestone memorable for the entire Town."

The proclamation recognizes Speedway's legacy as a thriving hometown community, its unique connection to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the generations of residents, businesses, and civic leaders who have contributed to the Town's success.
